"Pride in Old and New" The city of Duluth is named in memory of Daniel Greysolon Du Luth (1636 - 1710 ) who was a French captain and explorer. He was born in Saint Germain Laval, a small village about fifty miles from Lyons. Daniel Greysolon Du Luth negotiated and signed peace between Saulters and Sioux nations in the area of the city of Duluth, September 15th 1679. Duluth is the 4th oldest city in Gwinnett County and is located 25 miles northeast of Atlanta. as the second largest city in Gwinnett County, Duluth still retains its small-town charm which is reflected by a number of community celebrations throughout the year. Some of which include the Duluth Fall Festival and live music at the Pavilion. During the summer months you can enjoy Summer Stage Concerts and Flicks on the Bricks.
